Social Media and Cell Phones

Social media is an ever-evolving and ever-popular way to stay connected to friends, family members and co-workers. With the updated capabilities and features cellular phones are now consistently providing the consumer with, it is no surprise that social media has become recently most popular via cellular phone access.

With wi-fi and now, mi-fi, getting a wireless signal is easier than ever. Our social media has now become mobile. Not only do these social media avenues give us the opportunity to stay connected with those we know, we also can start to learn more about products, services and people we do not know. Companies now use Twitter and Facebook to explain their products and project their overall personality. We can learn about new gadgets, new capabilities, and comment on their use and our experiences with them.

With social media turning from fad to necessity, here are some of the top social media sites being used via cellular/mobile phone/smartphone, today:

Facebook: Facebook, used by children and adults, is an easy way to share your daily thoughts, while also housing a profile on yourself as an individual. Facebook allows for constant amendments to that profile, and updates of photos, links, and anything else you'd wish to share.

Companies are using Facebook to market to a large audience at once. With updates about their newest products or services, any 'face-booker' can easily stay up to date. With selecting a company's 'Like' Feature, social media users can get updates on their favourite restaurants, musicians, artists and venues.

Twitter: Twitter allows for those who are consistently thinking, and wanting others to be in the know as to their whereabouts, doings, thoughts and who they are hanging out with. More of a text and word centre for thoughts, this social media avenue is used by even celebrities, such as: Carmen Diaz, Carrot Top and Paris Hilton.

YouTube: A video-sharing site, allows mobile users to share vacation reels, humorous happenings and also view others'. Once a YouTube video goes up, it is valid for all to see, so by directing friends, via URL address or title heading, it is easy to keep in touch.

MySpace: Much like Facebook, MySpace allows the user to update a profile, with a photograph of choice. It's easy to post comments onto friend or family pages, and let them know what is going on with you on your very own page. MySpace allows for more personality, as backgrounds and graphics can be added and altered constantly. Also linking to a blog of your very own allows for writers and journalists to speak poetically about their daily happenings.

No matter which social media outlet you choose to use, they are all a fantastic way in which to stay in touch. Even in the instance that your phone is dropped and iPhone or Blackberry repair is necessary, the content stays within the social media outlet. This way it can be accessed from any mobile, computer or cellular device. In often never having to even speak into your cellular phone now, one can view what's happening from their landing space all the way across the globe. How are you staying in the know?
